TWO RAILROADS HAVE ACCIDENTS

Trains late from Both Ways on the Soo Line This Morning.

Slight Damage on W.G.B. Friday

On account of a broken rail on the Soo Line just west of Sheridan, No. 4, the limited train that should reach here at 3:18 a.m., was delayed by the two rear coaches being derailed and slightly tipped down on one side though not ditched.  Passengers were shaken up but no one injured beyond slight bruises.

A relief train from Fond du Lac went up and took passengers and mail and reached here at about 8:30.

The agent disclaimed any knowledge of any other wreck though it is reported that there was some sort of tie-up south of Fond du Lac as No. 3, due here at 12:59 a.m., reached this city about 8 o’clock and No. 1, which should reach here 6:33, was expected to arrive at about 9:30.

                                                          -----------------------------------------

The first wreck on the Waupaca - Green Bay road occurred Friday when the afternoon train bound for Scandinavia collided with a loaded gravel car standing on the main track opposite the gravel pit operated by Messrs. R. F. Whale and Wm. Dressen of this city.  The car had been left by the train crew in the forenoon and was to be taken to Scandinavia by the train on the trip in question.  Being late, the train was moving at a thirty-mile rate when turning a curve the car was sighted.  But for the use of the emergency brake the shock might have dealt death to some of those on board.  Fortunately the injury consisted of severe shaking, some slight bruises of passengers and about $300 damage to the engine and gravel car.
