WAUPACA REPUBLICAN December 18, 1896 Curlers Prepare for the Bonspiel At a meeting of the curling club held in H.W. Williams’ store Monday evening the following rinks were organized to attend the Portage bonspiel: George Dirimple, M.B. Scott, J.H. McCullough, H.W. Williams, skip. H.M. Lea, A.W. Hollenbeck, A.M. Chandler, S.S. Chandler, Jr., skip. T. Cook, J. Carkeek, Frank Stout, skip. E.B. Knapp, F.G. Barnum, Tom Pipe, Jeff Woodnorth, skip. Frank Whipple, J.F. Jardine, C.R. Hoffman, J.L. Sturtevant, skip. A local bonspiel was arranged to be played the first of January. The officers of the club presented a silver cup to be given to the rink which won it twice. |
