PLANS ALL MADE FOR BIG MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION TO BE HELD NEXT WEEK A SPECTACULAR PARADE Bands Have Been Engaged Two Potato Bake and Barbecue Three Ball Games Many Other Events And Free Admission
Less than one week remains until the biggest celebration that has ever been attempted in Waupaca will be in full swing. Next Wednesday, August 30th, will be the opening day of the Mardi Gras, Potato Bake and Barbecue that is being staged under the direction of the Waupaca American Legion Post. The celebration will continue for three days closing on Friday evening, and those in charge have spared no pains to entertain all who visit Waupaca on these three days. Three bands have been engaged to furnish music. There will be dancing on all afternoons and evenings. Among the riding devices will be a monster Ferris wheel, and a big Merry-Go-Round. Then in addition to this there will be many free attractions and vaudeville shows. At noon on Friday there will be a spectacular street parade, and from the interest that is already being manifested in the preparation of the various floats this part of the program will be something out of the ordinary. At 9:30 on Friday evening an illuminated parade will be held, which will be followed by fireworks. For those who enjoy baseball two good games have been arranged for. On Wednesday afternoon the Waupaca team will meet the Manawa team, and on Thursday afternoon the Marion team. In addition to these main events ….. |
