WAUPACA COUNTY POST

August 26, 1920

TWO HUNDRED AUTOS PER HOUR PASS POINT ON HIGHWAY NO. 18

That Highway is a much traveled highway must be admitted when the count is made at Chady’s Corners, a mile west of Waupaca city, under the direction of the State Highway Commission.

Last Sunday the number of cars averaged about 200 autos per hour.  It is not uncommon to find the aggregate for twenty-four hours to exceed two thousand motor vehicles. With such a tremendous traffic and no replacement of gravel where an occasional break of surface occurs, it would seem that our Highway Commission is either direlect of duty or has designs to push the concrete extravagance still farther on the portion of Highway No. 18, that lies in Waupaca county.  Residents along No. 18 should make demands that gravel be hauled onto those portions of the road where the thin coat put on by donation is breaking up and needs repair.
