WAUPACA COUNTY POST July 12, 1923
HOW SCHOOL STREET MIGHT BE REPAIRED STREET NOW IS ROUGH AND UNEVEN SHOULD BE SCARIFIED AND COVERED WITH ASPHALT
Waupaca has some streets that were once the pride of the city, but are now so rough that they are avoided by those who know their condition and criticized by those who are caught unwittingly and drive over them. One of these streets is School street which has cost a goodly sum to hard surface with macadam. One of the most successful and economical methods for repairing the streets of Stevens Point was that employed on the old macadam streets. These streets were scarified and then treated with a good coating of asphalt and this well rolled down. A prominent resident of Stevens Point suggested that such treatment might be employed in repairing the portion of Highway 18 between Waupaca and the Farmington town hall. One third of the cost of concrete would make a choice street by putting on a sufficient depth to make it serviceable. |
