Waupaca Normal To Open August 27th
The Waupaca County Normal at New London will begin its twenty-second year of service on Monday, Aug., 27th. County normals are among the first schools to commence work in the fall for the reason that the course is ten months in length instead of the usual nine months as in the case of high schools. In spite of the fact that many women continue teaching after marriage and that many retired teachers are going back into the profession, the demand for teachers is strong. All graduates of the class of last June and of the recent summer session have secured positions. Enrollments in the course for the coming year are being received daily and a good reenrollment is anticipated. The school has a splendid library which includes nearly every book dealing with rural school teaching; and the equipment is complete and thoroughly up-to-date in every respect. The personnel of the faculty has been the same for the past four years; Ellis N. Calef, principal, Marie B.K. Berg and Rose Barrett, assistants. During this time the school has enjoyed a reputation for doing thorough, conscientious, and high grade work in the preparation of teachers. Graduates of this school, who are previously high school graduates, complete a state normal school in one year. Everything at this time indicates that a year of successful work is about to commence. |
