ELECTRIC CO. HAS TROUBLE

On account of the liberal supply of snow this winter, severe cold weather and frequent wind storms, the Electric Service and Railway Co. has had to put up with considerable fighting and grief to keep the wheels going.  During the last week it was discovered that the ice in the pond above the dam had reached the bottom over a large area, reducing the storage capacity to a minimum with the result that a slight drop in the water level of the pond, the ice would reach the bottom of the forebay, obstructing the flow of the river and causing temporary shutdowns of the plant.  As soon as this was discovered a crew of men was put to work cutting and removing the ice with hopes of preventing further interruptions in the service.  The frequent snow storms and cold weather has also been a constant setback to the car line, making it impossible to maintain continuous service.
