NATIONAL GUARD UNIT IS NOW PROUD BOAST OF WAUPACA PROMOTERS List Now Consists of Sixty-five. Mustered in July 8th by Lieut. Johns To Drill Every Monday and Friday Night Until Going to Camp Douglas for Two Weeks in August
Waupaca has a National Guard company consisting of sixty-five sturdy young men mustered in by Lieutenant Johns Thursday evening, July 8. Drills will be held every Monday and Friday night until the company goes into training at Camp Douglas August 16 for two weeks or up to August 28. It is estimated that when a suitable hall has been provided for drill purposes that rent of hall, salaries of officers and pay of privates with some incidental expenses the cost to the federal government will be about $10,000 per year. The men will be furnished with uniform and all equipment by the U.S. war department. Following is the roster of Waupaca National Guard: Captain Roy Holly 1st Lieut. Bradley M. Barnes 2nd Lieut.
