PRAISES THE CAMP SITE

Field Representative Yellowstone Trail Association Says

It Is Most Ideal and One of the Best There Is

MANY TOURISTS STILL STOP

Are Now Enroute to Their Homes

Late Tourists Say Autoing Now Pleasant

Camp Site Was Exceptionally Popular This Season

Although the nights during the few weeks have not been especially favorable for out-of-door sleeping, the camp site in Waupaca, at the edge of South Park, continues to be used nearly every day by tourists who have made their trip to the west and are now on the way home.  Some of them passed through Waupaca on the way west or north and are coming back this way, remembering the Waupaca camp site.  Comments have been heard from these late tourists that they find this time of the year especially pleasant for touring.

The Waupaca camp site has been very popular this season and it is expected that next year many more tourists will take advantage of this ideal camp site.

The following letter which was received a few days ago by the Secretary of the Civic and Commerce Association, shows what outsiders think of this city’s free tourist park.  It is worth reading.

                                                                                                                        …..  Yorkson.

Secretary Civic and Commerce Ass’n

Waupaca, Wisconsin

Dear Mr. Yorkson,

Upon my recent visit to Waupaca in company with Mr. Graves, both of us working in the Field Department of the Yellowstone Trail Association, we took pains to investigate the Automobile Tourist Camp in Waupaca.

I cannot help but write and congratulate you on your tourist camp project there.  It is very seldom that you find a camp ground similarly situated, having the advantage of being close to the center of town and still far enough away to be out of the congested district and also situated on a lake where swimming facilities may be had.

The camp, itself, is certainly a splendid one and you can well be proud of it as from all that I have learned in coming in contact with tourists (people who have staid there), they are high in their praise of the camp, I think it is within keeping of the Waupaca slogan, “Waupaca’s Worth While.”  Your camp ground is simply more visible proof of that slogan.  I have visited any number of camp grounds this year and have been instrumental in establishing several.  There would be nothing to it, if every camp was situated like yours and was built up and maintained as the Waupaca camp ground is.  I think you will find by adding a little bit to the camp each year that it will soon be the biggest civic asset that Waupaca has.

I would suggest that you keep pushing the thing and if you desire any suggestions on what is being done at other camps for he convenience of tourists or if we can help you in any way, let us know and we will be at your service.

                                                                                                Yours very truly,

                                                                                                            (illegible - possibly F.C. Finch)
