WAUPACA COUNTY POST July 29, 1920 KILL THE GRASSHOPPER Having noticed that many of our Waupaca county farmers are suffering considerable damage from grasshoppers it seems advisable that measures be taken to check this pest. The following mixtures sown broadcast on the infested fields at the rate of 5 to 7 lbs. per acre will give results at a cost of about 50 cents per acre: Mix thoroughly together dry bran, or middlings, 50 lbs.; Paris green or white arsenic, 2 lbs.; salt, 2 lbs. Then add 1 oz. Of lemon extract to a bucket of water and dampen the mixture. More water can then be added until the mixture is crumbly. Apply in the morning while the dew is on the ground. The more farmers using this remedy, the better the results will be on each farm. JAMES H. DANCE County Agent |
