WAUPACA COUNTY NEWS May 25, 1922 TENNIS COURT ARE READY WAUPACA CLUB NOW READY FOR SEASON OF 1922 The Waupaca Tennis Club has just finished the work of getting its grounds and club house in shape for the summer, and it is expected that there will be a great deal of activity at the courts this year by the lovers of the sport. The Waupaca Tennis Grounds, which are located in the north side of the city on Wisconsin street, are one of the largest in this part of the state. The grounds contain four double courts. So far this season two of the courts have been put in shape for play, and if the other two courts are needed they will also be made ready. The membership fees to the Waupaca Tennis Club are $10.00 yearly, and girls are allowed the privilege of playing privately for $5.00 yearly. With the paying of the dues, the right is also given for the use of the lockers, shower baths, etc. Membership in the club is open to all of good moral character. Tennis is one of the most healthy and invigorating of games, and many businessmen who are becoming stale in the harness, would almost find the “fountain of youth” by becoming an enthusiast of the game of tennis. The officers of the Waupaca association are Peter Holst, President; E.A. Hannon, Vice-President; and Ralph High, Secretary and Treasurer. The Waupaca Tennis Club is open to challenge from any other club for interclub contests. |
