WAUPACA COUNTY NEWS November 17, 1921 THIRTY TURKEYS ARE FREE Catch the Football and Get a Thanksgiving Turkey Merchants Offer Many Exceptional Bargains Trade in Waupaca – Save Money Once again the people who live in Waupaca and vicinity are going to be given a wonderful money saving opportunity. This time it is not a “Dollar Day” sale, but the bargains that will be offered will be even greater. Most all the merchants in the city have joined forces and will put on another combined sale. The date of this event is Tuesday, Nov. 22nd. The day has been designated as “Turkey Trot and Big Nine Sale” day, and there are being offered bargains such as have not been heard of for years. One of the big features of the day will be a chance to get a turkey for Thanksgiving free. Thirty turkeys have been donated by the merchants of Waupaca, and they will be given away absolutely free, but you will have to show your skill to get one. The stunt is this – a basketball will be thrown from the roofs of the different stores in the city, and the lucky person catching the ball will receive a turkey. Remember that you have 30 chances, so see that you try your luck. The ball throwing will start at 1:30 o’clock in the afternoon. The reason for the putting on of these sales is to develop a closer feeling between the businessmen of Waupaca and the people of the country and surrounding towns, and to show them that they can buy just as cheaply and at the same time get a better quality of goods than they can from other places. So plan on coming to Waupaca next Tuesday, to do your Thanksgiving shopping. The merchants of Waupaca want you to make this city your trading headquarters, and they are willing to meet you more than half way. Let your slogan be – “Buy it in Waupaca.” |
