More Potatoes Planted in
County This Year Than Last
Crop Not Affected by the Drouth
County Clerk L.F. Shoemaker has made
his annual report tot the state board of agriculture and the report shows a
slight increase in the number of acres planted to potatoes this ear. In 1907 the potato acreage in this county was
15279 and this year 15429 acres have been planted, which is an increase of 140
acres.
The
yield of the potato crop in the county in 1907 was 1,298,684, which gives an
average yield per acre of 85-1/2 bushels.
This
year it is estimated that the average crop will be increased as there is but
little blight while last year the crop was badly damaged by it. The drouth that has

The
increase in the dairy interests of the county has brot
a decided increase in the number of milch cows over
last year, there being 830 more than in 1907.
