COUNTY CLERK COMLETES AGRICULTURAL REPORT

More Potatoes Planted in County This Year Than Last

Crop Not Affected by the Drouth

County Clerk L.F. Shoemaker has made his annual report tot the state board of agriculture and the report shows a slight increase in the number of acres planted to potatoes this ear.  In 1907 the potato acreage in this county was 15279 and this year 15429 acres have been planted, which is an increase of 140 acres.

The yield of the potato crop in the county in 1907 was 1,298,684, which gives an average yield per acre of 85-1/2 bushels.

This year it is estimated that the average crop will be increased as there is but little blight while last year the crop was badly damaged by it.  The drouth that has extended over the entire potato belt of  Wisconsin has not materially injured the potatoes and the quality of the product is much better than last year.

The following is an extract from Mr. Shoemaker’s report which shows the yield of the crop in 1907 and the acreage of 1908.
