D.R. Valentine Sells Main St. Barber Shop

D.R. Valentine has sold his barber shop on N. Main St. to Bill Calkins who is operating the shop as Calkins’ Barber Shop.

Valentine, 315 S. Division St., underwent abdominal surgery at St. Michael’s hospital in Stevens Point July 11. He was admitted there July 7.

Valentine, who has barbered for more than 30 years, is reported “improving” after surgery and plans to continue working following his complete recovery.

Calkins of the Calkins Food Store, Water St., has been a resident of Waupaca for more than 40 years. He started barbering when he was 20 and operated a shop for 8 years in Waupaca during World War II.
