BUSINESS HOUSES CHANGE LOCATIONS

Several Deals Have Been Made During the Past Week Affecting Some of Our Business Firms

 

            Several changes will take place in the business center of this city this spring which will add to the permanent growth of Waupaca.

            E.C. Williams has rented the Beadleston building, now occupied by the Electric Theater, on the corner of Main and Fulton Streets and will move his stock of hardware there on March 1st.  Mr. Williams has enjoyed a large patronage in his present location for the pasts twenty-one years but considers that the change will be necessary to accommodate his increased business.  The present location of Mr. Williams store has been occupied by a hardware business for the past forty-four years.  Simcox & West were engaged in the hardware business there from 1864 to 1887.  They were succeeded by E.C. Williams, who has since been successfully engaged in the hardware business on the same sight, but for a brief time following a fire in 1894, during which time the building was replaced.  Mr. Williams will occupy the entire first floor of the Beadleston building and the back part of the second floor.

                                                                        S. Klein

S. Klein has purchased from Matt Jenson the store building occupied by E.C. Williams and will take possession as soon as it is vacated.  Mr. and Mrs. Klein have been engaged in the fruit business in their present location for the past eight years.  They have not yet decided just what changes and improvements they will make in the building.

                                                                Mortenson Bros. Buy

            John Yorkson has sold his general merchandise business to Carl and Walter Mortenson, the transfer to be made Feb. 1.  Mortenson Bros. Are promising young men who will put energy and life into the new enterprise, which promises success.  Mr. Yorkson has been engaged in the general merchandise business in Waupaca for the past twenty years and for fifteen years he has been in his present location.  Previous to that he occupied the Ole Larson building where Chas. A. Yorkson & Co. is now established.  Mr. Yorkson has been identified with business interests of this city for many years and he will now retire from active work for a time.  His future plans are indefinite.

CHANGES AMONG OUR BUSINESS HOUSES

Some of Our Firms Acquire New Locations and Others Change in Management – New Firms

 

            Several changes have taken place in business circles of this city during the past two weeks ad more are in the prospect.  The buildings on Main St. that have been vacant during the winter are all rented and will be occupied by promising enterprises during the next three weeks.

                                                                        E.C. Williams

            E.C. Williams moved last week into his new quarters in the Beadleston Block.  Mr. Williams had out-grown his old place of business and has found his present location commodious enough for his increased business.

                                                                        Ideal Restaurant

            A change was made in the proprietorship of the Ideal Restaurant during the past week, W.J. Olson retiring and the business passing in the hands and business management of O. Boutwell and C.A. Hansen.  We bespeak for these gentlemen success in their new work.

                                                                        S. Klein

            S. Klein has moved his fruit store into the building he recently purchases which has been occupied for years by the E.C. Williams hardware store.  He has made living rooms in the rear of the building and will rent the second floor for a hall.

                                                                        Walter Peterson

            Walter Peterson in moving his electric theater to the building just vacated by Klein’s fruit store. He expects to have the theater in running order by the last of next week.

                                                                        Christianson & Nagle

            Elmer Christianson and Fred Nagle of Neenah have rented the Lord building on Main street and will open a furniture and undertaking establishment.  They expect to have their business in running order by April 15,

                                                                        Peder Moeller

            Peder Moeller, who has jeweler for Chas. Hoffmann for several yeas will open a jewelry store in this city as soon as his health will permit. He has rented the store building of Nels Jensen recently vacated by Barnes’ barber shop and will be ready for business at an early date.

                                                                        S.P. Sorenson

            S.P. Sorenson, who has been employed as a pharmacist for Hocking Bros. for several years, has opened an up-to-date pharmacy in the Perkins building and his store was opened to the public Saturday.

                                                                        Ed Smith

            Ed Smith has closed a deal in which he has leased the second floor of the Pinkerton building over Czeskeba’s hardware store and will take possession as soon as the building can be fitted for his photography business.

NEW BUSINESS ENTERPRISES

 

            Elmer Christenson and Fred Nagel of Neenah, have rented the south store building in the Lord Block and will take possession April 1st, with a stock of furniture and undertaking goods.  Mr. Christenson comes highly recommended and has been engaged in the undertaking business for over fifteen years.  He is a cousin of assistant Post Master Chas. A. Hansen.  He will move his family here just as soon as a house can be secured.

            Peter Moeller, who for some years had been employed in the C.R. Hoffmann jewelry store, has rented part of the Jensen building, recently occupied by B.M. Barnes, the barber, and will start a jewelry store as soon as arrangements can be made.  Mr. Moller has recently recovered from a long siege of typhoid fever.

            Sam Klien moved his goods into the store formerly occupied by E.C. Williams Tuesday, and the Electric Theater Company will occupy Mr. Klein’s old store.

NEW ELECTRIC THEATRE

 

            The Gminer store recently vacated by the Klein fruit store has been redecorated and refitted for the Electric Theater.  The front has been fixed up for the ticket office, music room and lantern room, slanting floor put in, new seating installed, the walls stained a cheerful red and everything made as good as is ordinarily found in towns larger than Waupaca.  The opening was Saturday afternoon and the crowds were so large that the doors had to be locked twice during the evening.

            The boys have a good lantern and give a very good exhibition and deserve the patronage of the public who may rest assured of good entertainment at all times.
