Mr. Gmeiner, the contractor, says for the past month many people have put the question, “Where is your tower?” and asked why it had not been erected. For the benefit of the many inquirers he says the reason he had not started it was because there was a delay at the factory in getting the metal trimmings for the tower, and he did not care to start it until the ornamental work arrived, for the reason a quarter inch either way might make quite a difference as to the fitting. But the metal has come now, and the clock tower riseth skywards and will soon be ready for the bell and flag staff. The first room in the tower is for part of the clock works, etc.; the second for the balance of the works and the dials, the third for the belfry, the whole to be surmounted by a staff for the stars and stripes. The plasterers are putting on the “adamant” will plaster this week.
