TWO ERICKSON COWS STATE CHAMPIONS

SENIOR FOUR YEAR OLD MAKES 1239.63 LBS.

SENIOR TWO YEAR OLD EXCCEEDS 1000 POUNDS

Two purebred Holstein-Friesian cows owned by John Erickson have recently completed records that give them state championships in their respective classes as well as giving them a high rank among the leading cows of the entire country.

Bess Johanna Pietertje Mercedes, a senior four-year-old, has to her credit in 2865 days, 1239.63 lbs. butter and 28,660.1 lbs. milk. This gives her the Wisconsin state championship for both milk and butter by a wide margin. She also holds second place for butter and fourth place for milk in the entire world for her age while her records for butter and milk entitle her to a tie for first place for world championship for combined butter and milk.

A state championship for this wonderful producer is not a new honor, for this great heifer is also the holder of the state championship in the yearly division for junior three-year-olds with a production of 1072 lbs. of butter.

Wisconsin Pride 3d, a senior two-year-old, has become a select member of the cows producing over 1000 lbs. of butter in a year.  Her record of 1000.58 lbs. butter and 22,011.7 lbs. of milk in 365 days give her the Wisconsin state championship for both butter and milk. She also ranks sixth highest in the world in  her class for butter production while her milk production entitles her to twelfth place among the senior two-year-olds.

It is a signal honor to own a two-year-old that has made over 1000 lbs. of butter in a year and Mr. Erickson has every reason to be proud of this wonderful member of his already famous herd.  Several other cows on test in the Erickson herd promise to eclipse the work of their stable mates and we hope to be able to announce the results of their production before long.
