WAUPACA IS SUPPLIED WITH FINE GROCERIES

Stores That Are Modern in Appearance and Well Stocked

                                                                        Peterson Grocery Co.

Among the elegant stores of Waupaca is the one on Main Street owned by the Peterson Grocery Co., near the post office.  In general appearance, it is a model of neatness and order, as the accompany cut will show.

The firm has built up a reputation for reliability that has won trade and public confidence.  Nothing is magnified or exaggerated.  The public has come to understand that when the firm makes an announcement it means exactly what it says.

This method of dealing has resulted in building up a large trade, and this spring the store was enlarged by taking out a partition, which gives more floor space, something that was much needed.  High ceilings, depth and breadth give a bright and roomy appearance to the interior, which also lights up well at night.

The store, which was formerly owned by William Peterson and Andrew Larsen, was purchased by J.P. Peterson and Christian Peterson about five years ago.  Christian is still a member of the firm, although he devotes his time and attention to the store at Saxeville.  The management of the local store is therefore left to J.P. Peterson.  The firm caters to the very best trade in staple and fancy groceries.  Buying as it does in large quantities, it is enabled to sell at prices that draws business from miles in every direction.  The stock is one of the finest and largest in this section carried by any firm in a similar line.

Mr. Peterson, who has been in business here for years, has the confidence and esteem of a wide circle of friends.

                                                                        A. Larsen & Sons.

Prominent in the ranks of the local groceries is the store of A. Larsen & Sons.  Forced by lack of room to seek more commodious quarters, the firm last January moved into its present attractive store on Union Street.  The interior was remodeled and the extensions were made which resulted in the present handsome store occupancy of the firm today.  The store proper is about 25 x 95, with a salesroom 25 x 65 feet.  The high ceilings give an appearance of roominess, while the large plate windows let in plenty of light.  In the rear of the main store is a wareroom 25 x 30 feet, which is used for heavy goods.  There is a large elevator which is used for moving goods stored in the basement.  The main store is used exclusively for the light weight, fancy and staple groceries.  The firm not only delivers to the city but to the lakes and has a large trade throughout the county.  Everything to be found in a first-class grocery is kept here and it is a conceded fact that if it cannot be found in this store it cannot be found anywhere.  The members of the firm who are well and widely known are Andrew Larsen and his sons, Harry E. and Albert L. Larsen.  Prompt and polite attention is always assured at Larsen & Sons.

                                                                        S.J. Danielson

Fine groceries are the rule in Waupaca.  Danielson grocery on upper Main street is not only one of the best in the city, but it is generally acknowledged most artistic in the arrangement of the stock.  Mr. Danielson seems to have a natural gift for displaying goods so they will show up to advantage.  The best of everything is his motto.  He deals in high grade goods only and the stock always looks bright, fresh and new.  The store which is kept neat and clean, is large, commodious and well-lighted, as a result of the high plate windows in front.  The stock is a large one but so arranged that the appearance of over crowding is avoided and the effect is pleasant

years, has built up a splendid business in and around Waupaca.

                                                            Barrington’s Grocery

Waupaca boasts a number of fine grocery stores.  One of the most popular and attractive of these is the store of S.A. Barrington.  Although he has been in the present location five years, he has been in the city over twelve.  The store carries a fine assortment of staple and fancy groceries, including Marshell’s best flour, of which a large stock is kept on hand.  A mountain of flour piled to the ceiling in the rear of the store gives some idea of the business done.  Mr. Barrington is justly proud of his flour and coffee trade, which is enormous.  He also carries a good line of candies and cigars.  A circumstance to which Mr. Barrington points with pardonable pride is the fact that his parents were among the first settlers of this county.  Mr. Barrington is now serving his second year as alderman of the city, having been elected to office a year ago in April.

                                                            Laabs Bros. Grocery

Of the handsome grocery stores of which Waupaca boasts, perhaps none of them are more attractively arranged or better stocked than the one on Main Street, conducted by Laabs Bros.  The interior is admirably suited for the display of stock.  The store is broad and deep, and it is well lighted from the front by the high display windows.  The shelves are loaded with the best that can be bought in the line of staple and fancy groceries, and the floors are also piled high with flour and other bulky goods.  The firm makes a specialty of fruits in season and during the twelve years spent in this location the firm has built up a large and growing trade.
