BUILDING FALLS IN

On Friday afternoon a part of the A.M. Hansen building being erected on the site of the old opera house was wrecked.  The front timber gave way letting the brick work above it fall in a pile to the ground.  Earl Teeder, who was employed on the construction of the building was slightly injured.  Work was delayed about a week.  Contractor Con Gminer expects to have the building completed and ready for occupancy early in August.

That A.M. Hansen has been busy the past summer and added much to the appearance of our city is evidence from the transformation that has taken place corner of Badger and Jefferson streets just south of the old Rink Opera House.  A new solid brick block has arisen one story and a fine basement 35 x 100 feet, and the solid new retaining walls soon to support cement walks with iron railings will add still further to the improved appearance of the street and make travel to the many who use that thoroughfare an agreeable privilege, and this building with its fine plate front and superior construction, including the retaining walls adds greatly to the looks of the property in that direction.

The basement is large and roomy.  Here can be found two lathes, drilling machines, pipe cutting machines and everything usually found in the best machine shops. He keeps in stock all kinds of piping and shafting from the smallest sizes up to the largest which can be fitted for any length desired.

There’s a carpenter shop for wood work in the east end of the building.  A large gasoline engine will turn the power used besides move a dynamo to electrically light the whole building.

The upper story will be the store room for sale of Gasoline engines, Pump, Plumbers supplies, Steam fittings, Hose, Porcelain Bath Tubs, Wash Basins, Lavatory goods, etc.

Mr. Hansen will have a private office with all modern desks, letter files, etc., as fine as any in the city.

Con Gminer was the contractor and builder of this building.

The REPUBLICAN certainly wishes Mr. Hansen and his new enterprise abundant success and prosperity.
