MUST BE CITIZENS

After the first Tuesday in July no person will be permitted to take out a license for the sale of liquor who is not a full citizen of the United States and of the State of Wisconsin, as well as of the town, village or city in which the license is applied for.

The law also provides that no person shall be granted a license who has been convicted of an offense against the laws of the state punishable by imprisonment in the state prison.  The law is wide in its applications covering all villages, towns and cities whether operating under the general law or special charter.  It becomes effective this year and applications for citizenship must have been filed prior to March 1.
