OLD CHURCH IS BEING TORN DOWN
Was Built in the Early Fifties – Was An Old Landmark
The old Methodist Church on the corner of Main and Badger Streets is being torn down. The structure is the oldest landmark in our city. It was built in the early fifties and served as a place of worship until the present new church was built.
The building was then purchased by Samuel Silverthorn, a former resident, and later came into the possession of its present owner, D.N. Ware.
It has been used as a blacksmith shop for many years and was condemned recently by the board of public works. During a recent wind storm the ceiling fell in and props were found necessary to keep the building from utter collapse.
