THE CORNERSTONE LAID

On Sunday afternoon last the cornerstone of the new Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran church at the corner of Badger and Division streets, was laid with impressive ceremonies.  The congregation met at the Opera house, where services are being held pending the completion of the church, at three o’clock, and proceeded to the site of the church.  Rev. H. Hansen of Kanmare, ND, assisted by the pastor, Rev. L. Johnson, conducted the exercises.  The stone is in the northeast corner of the foundation, and the receptacle contained a list of church officials, a brief history of the society, and the usual papers, etc.

Work on the building, which is to cost $4,000, is progressing rapidly under the supervision of Ald. C.W. Nelson, who has the contract.
