During the past week several business places have been broken open and more or less pilfering has been going on.
Saturday night the putty was cut off about three-fourths around the glass in the rear door of Fred Lea’s store but the parties did not gain entrance. Some one carried off a boiled ham from an ice box standing outside the Blue Front restaurant.
Fisher & Fallgatter’s mill was broken into by forcing the lock on the main door but no great loss was discovered.
About the same time A.A. Paineau’s store house near the depot was broken into and two cases of beer stolen.
Two “suspicious characters” are under arrest pending examination.
