O’LEARY’S HOUSE
RAIDED
On Sunday
night Officers Hudson and Burgess made a raid upon Can O’Leary’s house on the
cemetery road, and arrested Mr. and Mrs. O’Leary, Fred Currier, B. Erickson of Scandinavia,
and Mary Gibben of Fond du Lac. Three others, Nic Larson, Robert Halfhide,
who came back from the west last week, and Chris Larson, skipped through a back
window and got away for the time being.
The others were brought down to the city lock-up, and on Monday were
brought before Police Justice Heaney.
The O’Learys’ case, being a felony, was postponed for one week, so that
District Attorney Martin might be present.
Currier and the Gibben woman, who were found in a room together, pleaded
guilty, and were fined $24 and costs each.
Being unable to pay it, they will sojourn with Sheriff Flanagan at the
county jail for sixty days. Erickson,
who was sitting in the front room with the others, also pleaded guilty, and was
fined $5 and costs, which he paid.
Though
warrants have been issued and are in the hands of the sheriff, neither of the
Larsons nor Halfhide have been apprehended as
yet. Mrs. O’Leary is in jail because of
inability to furnish bail; O’Leary was released upon his own recognizance.
