Robert
Burns, a pioneer in this section of the state, passed away Sunday morning just
a little after ten o’clock. He was born in Ireland
March 10, 1826. About 1842 he left his native country and
settled in the state of New York. He remained there about five years when he
removed to Wisconsin and bought a
farm in the town of Waupaca about a
mile from this city. He lived on the
farm until eight years ago when he came into this city and made his home until
his death, living with his daughter, Mrs. B. Smith. Two other daughters also survive him, Miss
Margaret Burns of California and
Miss Ruth Burns of Waupaca.
During
his life he has been a member of the United Presbyterian and First Methodist
churches. About two years ago his health
began to fail and during the last winter he was quite feeble. The funeral
services were held at the residence in the Third ward by Rev. Webster Millar on
Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment was made in Lake
View cemetery.

Robert
Burns died on Sunday morning at the age of 82 years, at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Bessie Smith, with whom he has made his home for the past year.
He
was born in Ireland,
Mar. 10, 1826, and in 1842 he came to New
York, where he lived for five years. In 1847 he came to Wisconsin
and settled on a farm about one mile from Waupaca where he lived up to eight
years ago when he came to Waupaca.
He
is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Smith, and Miss Ruth Burns of this
city and Miss Margaret Burns of California. He was a member of the United Presbyterian
church and later joined the Methodist church.
He has been an invalid for the past two years and his death is mourned
by a large circle of friends.
The
funeral was held from the home of his daughter on Tuesday at two p.m., Rev. Webster Millar officiating with
interment in Lake View
cemetery.
