BARN FIRE

About three o’clock Sunday afternoon fire broke out in Peter Fabricius’ barn near his hotel Riverside on Water Street.  The fire laddies were soon there and while they prevented the spread of flames to the house and put out the fire the barn was badly damaged, probably $200, would hardly make good the loss.  As to origin of the fire:

It is said some boys were showing magic lantern pictures in the barn about noon but they claim they were careful and saw no evidence of fire when they took their machine to the house about dinner time still there might have been a spark which was caught in some of the various things about the barn which finally culminated in the big smoke and flames which broke out later.

The building was insured for $100 in Alfred Johnson’s agency.
