            A horse kicked Frank Whipple last week on his right hand which injured his fore finger quite seriously.

 

            Mr. Perkins has been making a brick chimney in Mr. Poll’s summer kitchen that had such a close call the other day.

 

            Mrs. Western an old lady about 60 who lately moved to this city with her son John, from Manawa, died Tuesday night.  Her remains were taken to Manawa for burial.

 

            It is reported that other cases of drowning have occurred in the past in about the same place in Hall’s lake where McAllister went down.

 

            O.M Buck is helping on mason work in rebuilding Marshfield.  J.H. Billing went yesterday to work at carpenter work, 35 stores are rebuilding.

 

            Mr. Carman has left the business for Waupaca of the Federal Life Association in the hands of M. L.M. Dakin at E. Coolidge’s bank. The Federal is a good company on a sound financial basis.

 

            Geo. W. Taggart of Weyauwega, was in Waupaca this week visiting his sister Mrs. N.L. White and other friends.  If the supreme ruler is willing, Mr. and Mrs. Taggart will celebrate their golden wedding Oct. 16, with a family reunion of a couple weeks.  Mr. Taggart has a sister living near Washington who celebrated her golden wedding in 1884, since which time her husband Mr. D.N. Wells has died.  He also has a brother in Washington, a helpless invalid.  His brother has held a position as clerk in the treasury department a long number of years.

 

            Fred Rosche has the stone and lumber on the ground and a cellar is being excavated for that new house on his corner lot in the 3d ward.  It must be that Fred has some fine project in view.

 

            Ice cream and cake, everything afternoon and evening at ten cents per dish by Mrs. D. Parish at her residence on Main Street.  Cream by quart or gallon 25¢ and $1.  Also any amount made to order.

 

            Dan Downey is laying a new residence made out of the old one on the lakefront east of C.E. Hoffmann’s.  Dan will have a nice stone basement put in, and the old house made into a more modern cottage.

 

            Rhinelander New North:  The company sinking a mine in Waupaca county a few miles southwest  of Marion, have struck a promising lead.  Dr. Dale, who is one of the company, has received some fine specimens from there lately.

 

            Charles R. Brainard is promulgating a plan for a highway to run on an angle from the Brainard Bridge and intersect the road on the northwest corner of section 24 or the southwest corner of section 1? In the town of Farmington, thus giving the farmers in that section of Farmington and beyond, a shorter road to Waupaca by a mile.  A saving or two miles travel each trip to the city would be worth a good deal.  Let the road be established.
