Poisoned Horses

A mysterious case of poisoning horses occurred last week in the town of Wyoming, at Thor A. Torson’s.  a POST representative drove up there Thursday morning and found Mr. Thorson and family greatly bewildered over the death of a fine team of horses, which Mr. Thorson had purchased but a few weeks ago of Frank Considine of this city.  Mr. Torson went out to feed the horses about 5 o’clock that morning.  When he stepped into the barn he noticed that one of the horses was sick, and while stood looking at it, the horse dropped down and died.  The other horse began to show symptoms of sickness, and before he could secure help, it also died.

Upon examination it was found that both feed boxes were covered with Paris Green, and the horses had evidently smeared it all over in licking it.  Footprints were found leading from a road in the woods to the rear of the barn, and away again.  Mr. Torson is one of the prominent men of that section, and has many friends, and until now did not know that he had an enemy.  It certainly was a despicable crime, and the perpetrator, if found, should be punished to the full extent of the law.
