Hats and Ties Now Being Sold
The
sale of centennial hats, canes, derbies, ties, ladies bonnets and kiddie hats,
along with numerous other articles of wearing apparel will go on sale this week
in three Waupaca stores, according to Allan Scott, centennial corporation
president.
Plans
were worked out with the steering committee, headed by Kenneth Petersen,
according to Scott. Atkinson’s, Schultz
Brothers and Glover’s Dry Goods stores will be places where the clothing will
be sold. All assorted sizes and colors
will be available, and residents are asked to begin wearing the articles
immediately and with enthusiasm, according to Scott. All proceeds derived from the sale of these articles will go into
the centennial fund, he assured.
Saturday,
April 6, has been set as the deadline for copy, pictures and advertisements for
the centennial book, according to steering committee chairman Petersen. The book is reported to be coming along very
well. He noted that the wooden nickels
will also be available shortly.
Committees
are being called together to plan pre-centennial activities such as the style
show and pre-centennial ball.
The
steering committee meeting with president Scott Tuesday night worked on setting
up the street concessions such as food, refreshments and white elephant stands.
E.T. Webb and Gilbert Johnson, co-chairmen of the Waupaca Industrial
Development Corp. centennial committee, along with John O. Brown will work with
