Mr. Burnham was formerly superintendent of schools in Waupaca county and succeeded in bringing the schools up to a high standard. The gentlemen are both worthy and energetic and no doubt will make a success of their new venture.

ATTENTION SUBSCRIBERS
A new ruling of the postmaster general has been issued which went into effect January 1. This new ruling applies to all newspapers going through the mails. It is as follows: A reasonable time will be allowed publishers to secure renewals of subscriptions, but unless subscriptions are expressly renewed after the term for which they are paid, within the following period.
Weeklies, within one year; they shall not be counted in the legitimate list of subscribers, and copies mailed on account thereof shall not be accepted for mailing at the second-class postage rate of one cent a pound, but may be mailed at the transient second-class postage rate of one cent for each four ounces or fraction thereof prepaid by stamps affixed.
The meaning of this order is that subscribers to a weekly paper who are more than one year behind in subscription will not be considered legitimate subscribers. Parties who take a paper and wish to continue the subscription should see to it that they are not over a year in arrears as the publisher has no choice in the matter, and will have to affix stamps to their papers or remove their names from the list.
If stamps are affixed the subscribers will have to pay $1.75 per year for this paper.
