            Mrs. Harriet Agusta Chandler Baldwin, wife of M.R. Baldwin, passed away at her home in this city on Saturday morning, Feb. 8, at three o’clock, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis from which she never rallied.

            The subject of this sketch was born in Hanover, N.Y., on Nov. 17, 1836, and came to Wisconsin with her parents and settled at Racine in 1846.  Later they went to Galena, Ill., and in 1849 came to Waupaca, where Mrs. Baldwin resided continuously up to the time of her death.

            On May 5, 1853 she married M.R. Baldwin of this city, who, with three sons and three daughters, survive her:  Walter C. Baldwin, Mrs. Ransom Bailey and Miss Victoria Baldwin of this city; Frank S. Baldwin of West Allis; Wallace Baldwin of Kenosha and Mrs. W.I. Prince of Duluth, Minn.  She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary B. Paine, of this city, and seventeen grandchildren.

            Mrs. Baldwin was one of Waupaca’s oldest residents and she endeared herself to all who knew her many lovable traits which characterize a true Christian woman.

            The funeral was held form the family residence on Monday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. A.T. Erickson, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.  Mrs. George Lockman sang two appropriate hymns and the remains were laid at rest  at Lakeview cemetery.

            Those present form away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W.I. Prince of Duluth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Baldwin, West Allis; Dr. and Mrs. F.E. Chandler, Chicago; W.H. Baldwin, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Weed, Weyauwega; ransom Bailey, Milwaukee; Mrs. George Chamberlain, Phillips.

            Mrs. M.R. Baldwin died at her home, Saturday, Feb. 8, at three o’clock in the morning.  About eighteen months ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and has not been in good health since, and the day she died she had two more strokes from which she died.

            Harriet Augusta chandler was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1836.  With her parents and her sister, Mrs. Mary B. Payne, moved to Racine in 1846 and from there to Galena, Ill., and in the year 1849 she came to Waupaca, where she has lived ever since.  On May 5, 1853, she was united in marriage to M.R. Baldwin, and eight children were born to them, John, dying while and infant and Hattie, the youngest of all the children, in the year 1890.  The six children surviving her, besides her husband and sister, Ms. Payne, are Mrs. Jeanette Bailey and Walter C., of this city, Wallace H. of Kenosha, Frank S. of West Allis, Mrs. Mary Prince of Duluth, Mich., and Victoria at home, and seventeen grandchildren.

            Mrs. Baldwin was one of the oldest residents of this city.  She joined the Congregational church in this city about thirty years ago and has since kept up her interest in the work.  She was a woman of a quiet disposition and will be missed by her many friends.

            The funeral was held from the house on Monday afternoon, Rev. Erickson, officiating.  Mrs. G.A. Lockman furnished the singing.

            Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W.I. Prince, of Duluth; Wallace Baldwin of Kenosha, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Baldwin of West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Chandler, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Weed, Weyauwega, and numerous other friends.

            Harriet Augusta Chandler Baldwin wife of Mr. M.R. Baldwin died at their home in this city at three a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8th and was buried Monday in Lakeside cemetery.  The subject of this sketch is survived by her husband Milton R. Baldwin, three sons, Walter C. of this city, Wallace H. of Kenosha, Frank S. of West Allis, Wis., three daughters, Mrs. W.I. Prince of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. R. Bailey and Miss Victoria Baldwin and an only sister, Mrs. Mary B. Paine of this city, all of whom were present at the funeral.  The services were conducted by Rev. Erickson of the First Baptist church and were short but very appropriate.

            The music consisting of two solos was furnished by Mrs. Lockman and was highly appreciated by those present.

            Mrs. Baldwin was born in Hanover, New Hampshire in 1836.  Her parents moved west landing in Racine in 1846.  From there they went to galena, Ill., and in 1840 moved to Waupaca making Mrs. Baldwin one of the city’s earliest settlers.

            Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin were married May 5, 1858 at Waupaca and have resided here ever since.  Of this union six children and seventeen grandchildren survive.

            For twenty-five years Mrs. Baldwin has been a member of the Congregational church.

            Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Prince, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Baldwin, W.H. Baldwin, Dr. and Mrs. F.ER. Chandler of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Will Weed of Weyauwega were among those present from out of town.
