DEATH OF HENRY BEADLESTON

 

            Henry Beadleston, a pioneer resident of Waupaca, aged seventy-four, passed away at his residence on Fulton Street, Dec. 18, at 9:50 a.m.  On Saturday, Dec. 7, he was taken ill with nervous prostration, and though suffering no pain, he grew weaker until the end came.

            Henry Beadleston was born at Lake George, N.Y., Nov. 22, 1833.

            In the early fifties he came to Waupaca, and entered into the grocery and drug business, with his brother Hiram, at the corner of Fulton and Main Streets.  In 1855 they sold out to Jeffers & Hudson and retired from active business.

            He leaves, besides a wife and daughter Alta, a brother and sister, Hiram of Waupaca and Mrs. Carrie Brayton of Glen Falls, N.Y., to mourn his loss, also a host of friends.  He was a member of the Masonic order.

            The funeral services will be held at their residence on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Millar officiating.  Interment will take place at Lake View cemetery.

            Henry Beadleston, one of the pioneer settlers of this section, passed quietly away at his home in this city on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, after an illness of ten days.

            The subject of this sketch was born in Lake George, New York on Nov. 22, 1833, and came to Waupaca in the early 50’s where he has since resided.  He has been closely identified with the growth of this city during all those years.  He was married in 1879 to Miss Eliza Arters, who is left to mourn.  He is also survived by a brother, Hiram Beadleston of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Brayton of Glen Falls, N.Y.

            The funeral will be held under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of this city of which he has been a prominent member, assisted by Rev. Webster Miller of the M.E. church.  The interment will be made in Lake View cemetery.

            In the early fifties he came to Waupaca, and entered into the grocery and drug business, with his brother Hiram, at the corner of Fulton and Main Streets.  In 1855 he sold out to Jeffers & Hudson and retired from active business.

            The block containing two stores and second story besides a warehouse was built in 1877 simultaneously with the Masonic block and was owned jointly by the two brothers until about a year ago Henry bought Hiram’s interest, the worry – incident to non-payment of money due him, etc., casing his sickness and owing to his age a complete collapse.

            He was married to Miss Eliza Culver, Nov. 20, 1879, who survives.  He leaves, besides a wife and daughter Alta, a brother and sister, Hiram of Waupaca and Mrs. Geo. Brayton of Glens Falls, N.Y., to mourn his loss, also a host of friends.  He was a pioneer member of the Masonic order of this city.

            The funeral services will be held at their residence on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Webster Millar officiating.  The Mason’s will attend in a body and have charge of the burial service.
