HOW HE WAS KILLED
From
the Birchwood Press, the following facts regarding the accidental death of
Clarence H. Bemis are learned;
Mr.
Bemis was one of a crew unloading piling from flat cars near Hoffmann,
Minn., the work being done for the Soo extension. In
unloading a car, the piling came off, the wrong side, twenty huge logs falling
upon Clarence, crushing his life out almost
instantly. Through some mistake the
takes which held the logs in place had been cut through, and when Bemis cut the
wire across the top, the logs came his way, and he was unable to dodge them.
