Thomas
Blair of Lanark died Wednesday morning, May 22, at 9
o’clock at the home of his son-in-law, Frank H. Poll, at Almond.
Mr.
Blair was born Oct. 8, 1826 came to Wisconsin and settled upon a farm in the
town Lanark in 1862, where he continued to live until about one year ago, when
failing health caused him to seek the care of his daughter, Mrs. Poll. His wife died thirty-three years ago. He is survived by six children: John A., of Plainfield,
Walter D. and Wm. H., who live in Ohio,
Robert, who lives on the home farm in Lanark, Mrs. F.E. Poll, and May of
Almond. Mr. Blair was a man of more than
average ability, lived a long, honorable and useful life, was a successful
farmer and during the pioneer days of Portage
county his helping hand aided many in establishing themselves in the new
land. His circle of friends was large
and all sympathize with the family in their bereavement.
Mr.
Blair was well known in this city where he was a frequent visitor.
