Flora Brigham

 

            Flora Brigham, born Mar. 7, 1819, in Two Rivers, Canada, died May 22, 1907, in Springwater, Wis., at the home of her son Nelson Brigham, at the advanced age of 88 years, 2 months and 15 days.

            She moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Strong, to York state, then to Hinesberg, Vermont, where she was united in marriage to Joseph Brigham Jan 1, 1836, remaining in Hinesberg twelve years, moving then to Fond du Lac in 1848, thence to Springwater in 1854, where she lived until her death.

            Her husband died 17 years ago while visiting in Fond du lac, was brot home and interment was made in Crystal Lake cemetery.

            To Mr. and Mrs. Brigham were born five sons and five daughters.  One daughter died at two years of age and one at the age of forty years.  Mrs. Brigham leaves eight children, thirty-one grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  Four brothers and one sister survive her.

            She was raised a Catholic but at the age of forty-four was converted to the Methodist faith and united with the Crystal Lake church, remaining faithful until her death.

            She had been a great sufferer nearly twenty years.  Her last sickness was dropsy and caused great suffering for eight weeks, when she peacefully fell asleep in Jesus.
