BROWN – At her home in this city, Friday morning, March 23, 1888, Helen, wife of E.D. Brown.

Mrs. Brown had been confined to her bed since Thursday of last week, at which time she was taken down with pneumonia. The disease, however, took a typhoid form, and a little before 5 o’clock Friday morning she passed away.  Her condition had been regarded as critical for the past three days, but it was not anticipated that the end was so near.  Her children had, however, been summoned to her bedside, and all had arrived except A.W. and W.E.

Mrs. Brown was the mother of twelve children, eight of whom, together with the husband and father, survive her.  Her other immediate relatives residing here are her father, Mr. H. Anderson, who has lived with the Brown family for many years, and a brother, Hon. T.W. Anderson of Stockton.  The children are Anderson W., Webster E. and Edward O. Brown of Rhinelander, Mrs. Paul Browne of Waupaca, and Belle, May, Walter and Nellie.  The last four are still at home, and the youngest is aged about 14 years.

Mrs. Brown, was born at Haton, Madison county, N.Y., April 15 1830, and she had therefore nearly completed her 58th year.  Her twin sister died in infancy, and the only members of her family still living are her father and brother, before mentioned.  She was married to Edward D. Brown, February 21, 1849, and in the spring of 1857 moved with her husband to this place, and had lived in the town of Stockton and this city ever since.

She had for many years been a member of the Methodist church, and at all times lived an exemplary, Christian life.  She was domestic in her tastes, and was warmly attached to her home and family.  Her ambition was centered in her children, thir present and future welfare, and she lived long enough to witness the fruition of her hopes, in seeing all but the two youngest obtain the position of manhood and womanhood, respected by all who know them.  In her death a devoted wife, loving mother and exemplary Christian woman has passed from amongst us.

The funeral will take place from the residence Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, - Stevens Point Journal.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Browne were with their mother and the family, at Stevens Point a few days previous, and during the sad, trying ordeal; they arrived home on Monday.
