Buried Monday Afternoon
The
death of Miss Emily J. Buck occurred at the home of her brother, Loren E. Buck,
on Royalton St. last Saturday morning, Jan. 18th, 1908. The
deceased was born in Berlin, Vt. Dec.
13, 1818 and was in her ninetieth year.
When fourteen years of age she was sick with the scarlet fever and was
deprived of her hearing, and for seventy-five years had not been able to hear a
human voice. Through all the years of
this misfortune she possessed a hopeful spirit and made the best of her condition. She lived for a number of yeas in the east
and about thirty years ago she came to Wisconsin and made her home at Omro
and Waupaca with relatives for some time.
Ten years ago she came to this city and made her permanent residence
with her brother. Her brother in this place,
Loren E. Buck and another brother in N.H. survive her. Her health had been good until four years ago
when she met with an accident, but from which she had mostly recovered, until
her last sickness which at first was not regarded as very serious.
The
funeral services were held at her late residence Monday afternoon, Rev. Webster
Millar officiating and interment was made at Lakeside cemetery.
