Rev. David Burnham
Our old respected townsman, after about seventeen months suffering with paralysis, passed from earth Tuesday morning, Dec. 23. The funeral was held from the family residence Wednesday, Rev. E. Perry conducting the services. In the course of his remarks of Christian consolation to the family and friends the following brief obituary was read:
David Dean Burnham was born Aug. 12, 1804. He moved to Wisconsin in 1837 and settled in Racine County; moved to Waupaca county in 1836, where he has since resided. His occupation has been that of a farmer, mason and preacher, and his life has been a respectful and successful one. He was first married at the age of 28, but his wife dying, he took unto himself another wife who still survives him. He was the father of two sons, David and Justice Burnham, who survive him. The latter was principal of the Waupaca schools several years. Mr. Burnham was known as a strong, robust man, of strict moral integrity, of upright character. While holding views different from a good many, he was always regarded as a faithful Christian – a firm believer in the second coming of Christ. Now that death has summoned him Home we doubt not but that he is in Christ’s presence, to praise Him forever and ever.
