Waupaca Post

June 11, 1908

Robert Burns, a pioneer in this section of the state, passed away Sunday morning just a little after ten o’clock.  He was born in Ireland March 10, 1826.  About 1842 he left his native country and settled in the state of New York.  He remained there about five years when he removed to Wisconsin and bought a farm in the town of Waupaca about a mile from this city.  He lived on the farm until eight years ago when he came into this city and made his home until his death, living with his daughter, Mrs. B. Smith.  Two other daughters also survive him, Miss Margaret Burns of California and Miss Ruth Burns of Waupaca.

During his life he has been a member of the United Presbyterian and First Methodist churches.  About two years ago his health began to fail and during the last winter he was quite feeble. The funeral services were held at the residence in the Third ward by Rev. Webster Millar on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock.  Interment was made in Lake View cemetery.
