OBITUARY

 

Mrs. Fannie F. Carpenter died very suddenly Saturday morning Aug. 12, 1893, of old age at the home of Bert Hartman.

Fanny F. Rice was born in the town of Bennington, Vt., January 14, 1810.  At the age of 21 she married Truman Carpenter.  After residing in Bennington a few years they moved to Ohio and thence to Vineland, Winnebago Co., Wis.  After living there three years they moved to the town of Lanark, Portage Co., where they resided until the death of her husband, (six years and five months ago).  She leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn her loss.  F.E. Carpenter, of Waupaca, .W. Carpenter, of Badger, and Mrs. S.F. DeVoin, of Uzurka, Cal.  She was a member of the Methodist church in her younger days and was an earnest believer in saving grace.

The funeral was held from the home of H. Carpenter on Sunday, Rev. Bristol officiating, and a large number of friends being present.  The interment was in the Badger cemetery.

            Mrs. Frank Carpenter died Saturday aged about 50 years.  Deceased was an estimable lady.  She leaves besides her husband a daughter, Mrs. Will Ware and one son John to mourn the loss of a most affectionate and Christian mother.  One daughter, Mrs. Andrew Swan preceded her about a year ago.  Her aged father, Mr. John Gray lived with her.  Rev. RH Colby officiated at the funeral service held at the house on Monday and the remains were laid at rest in the Badger cemetery.
