The many friends of John Clark, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Clark, were greatly shocked to hear of his terrible death which occurred Friday forenoon, March 13th, 1908, at the home of Alfred Larson, about two miles north of Ogdensburg, while working on the sawing machine, the saw breaking and striking him and killing him instantly.  Dr. Johnson was called and removed the body to the home of Rev. and Mrs. Clark, grandparents of the deceased, where, with the assistance of friends he prepared the body to be brought home to the bereaved parents, living on the Harry Herbert farm.  The deceased was a bright, intelligent young man, a favorite among his companions, making friends wherever he went.  He was born in the town of Eden, Fond du Lac county, Aug. 27, 1888.  He leaves to mourn his early departure, his parents, a little sister, Miss Grace, and his aged grandparents, Rev. C.M. Clark and wife, besides other relatives and a host of friends.  The funeral was held Sunday from the Baptist church at Ogdensburg at three o’clock, Rev. Neff, pastor of the M.E. church of Weyauwega, officiating, assisted by Rev. Proctor.  The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.  The remains were laid to rest in the Ogdensburg cemetery where a host of friends gathered to pay their last respect.

The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends during their sad bereavement.

Written for last week.

A very sad accident happened last Friday morning when John W. Clark was instantly killed by a saw breaking on a wood sawing machine on which he was employed.  The machine was owned by Davis & Budd and they were sawing wood on the farm of Alfred Larson, about two and one-half miles west of here at the time of the accident.  John Clark was a very pleasant and industrious young man, well thought of by all who knew him.  The funeral was held Sunday from his aunt’s home on the Harry Herbert farm in this town.
