E.W. CZESKLEBA DIED ON SUNDAY

LARGE FUNERAL

BORN IN AMHEST, BEGAN BUSINESS CAREER AT AGE OF NINETEEN

WAUPCA RESIDENT 23 YEARS

Ernest W. Czeskleba died at his home in this city Sunday afternoon, March 20, following an illness since Christmas day when he suffered a heart attack while all the children were gathered at the parental home for this festive occasion.

Deceased was born in Amherst April 29, 1866, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Czeskleba.  At the age of nineteen he entered the hardware business and continued the business for nineteen years when he sold out and came to Waupaca, twenty-three years ago.

October 19, 1891, he married Kate Gray who with the two sons and three daughters are left to mourn the loss of a most faithful husband and father.

Few men hold such a record of application to business for a period of forty-two years and fewer still a record of spending all his evenings and holidays at his own fireside or on outings with his family for more than thirty-five years.

The children are:  Gray of the Gray Czeskleba Oil Co., Lucile, (Mrs. Ralph Hoffmann) of this city, Phyllis, a teacher in Chicago, Elvira (Mrs. Rex Rosnow) of Stevens Point, and Gary, at home.

The funeral at the Episcopal church in this city Wednesday afternoon was largely attended and was most fitting in every respect.

Besides the immediate family, three brothers and three sisters were present at the last rites.  They are:  Ed and Philip Czeskleba and Mrs. B. Slavin of Montello; Mrs. Tillie Adams and Mrs. Al Smith of Amherst and Victor Czeskleba of Shawano with members of their families.

The Episcopal service was conducted by Rev. A.L. du Domaine, rector, and the following neighbors acted as pall bearers:  Atty. John C. Hart, F.A. Houseman, Casper Smith, C.R. Hoffmann, V.L. Vedner, C. Kreunen.  Interment was in Lakeside cemetery.  All business houses in the city were closed during the funeral.
