DIED

 

            Mrs. Orre Griswold Gleason, grandmother of City Clerk C.G. Burbank, died at the home of Albert Fenton in Northport, on Sunday last, June 5, at the advanced age of ninety-four year.  Mrs. Gleason was born in Ornell, Vermont, March 11, 1804, and was married to Jonah Gleason May 9, 1827, at Hubberton, Vermont.  Five children blessed the union, Mrs. R.S. Burbank being the youngest, all of whom have preceded her to the grave.  Mr. and Mrs. Gleason moved to this state in 1848, settling at Burnett Junction, and afterward living at Iola and Northport.

            Mrs. Gleason had many old friends who will be sorry to hear of her demise.  At the time of her death she was one of the oldest residents of the county.

            The funeral was held on Monday, the interment being at the Northport cemetery.  R.S. Burbank, C.G. Burbank, Mrs. J. Carkeek, and Miss Kitty Burbank of this city were present.

IN MEMORIAM

Death of Mrs. Gleason

 

            The death of Mrs. Orre Gleason at Northport, Sunday, June 5, 1898, removes another of the old Waupaca pioneers.

            Orre Griswold was born March 11, 1804, at Orwell, Vermont.  She married Jonah Gleason of Hubberton, Vermont. By the union there were five children, one daughter was the wife of R.S. Burbank of this city.  The family moved to Wisconsin in 1848 and settled at Burnett Junction.  Afterward lived at Iola and Northport in this county. Deceased was a fine old lady and lived with her son-in-law a number of years in this city.  Although 94 years old last March she retained her faculties perfectly up to three weeks ago.  Mr. Burbank, son C.G. and daughters Kittie and Mrs. Ella Carkeek all attended the funeral at Northport on Monday. Rev. Robinson of New London, officiated and the remains were laid beside those of her late husband who died twenty-five years ago.
