MRS. GORDINIER TAKEN SUNDAY; RITES TUESDAY

SUFFERED STROKE A WEEK AGO,

WHICH HAS HASTENED PASSING

PROMINENT IN CHURCH WORK

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles S. Gordinier, who died late Sunday, were held from the home, 212 Jefferson Street, and from St. Mark’s church Tuesday 2 p.m., the Rev. G. Linn Ferguson officiating.

Mary J. Meiklejohn was born in August, 1858, the daughter of Robert and Catherine Meiklejohn, in the town of Little Wolf.

She was married to Charles S. Gordinier, in this city, Oct. 14, 1879, and just prior to her death expressed the wish that she might live until next fall, when she and her husband would celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Born to this union were John, who died when 14 years old; Lee, who died when but five; and May (Mrs. Henry Steele) who, with her bereaved husband, survives.  Other relatives are three brothers, Dr. D.V. Meiklejohn, Fond du Lac; Robert Meiklejohn, Waupun; and Fred Meiklejohn, Manawa, all of whom were present at the funeral.  Other relatives called here were Mrs. T.M. Thomas, Chicago, sister of the deceased; Mrs. Kate Hills, Waupun, another sister, who attended Mrs. Gordinier during her illness, and Judge Henry Steele, Rhinelander, a son-in-law.

The Gordiniers lived here most of their 50 years of very happy life together, but lived a few years in Waupun and several yeas in Bell Rapids.

Mr. Gordinier will close up the home here and live with his daughter, Mrs. Steele, at Rhinelander.

Mrs. Gordinier was an active worker in the Episcopal church and in the Pythian Sisters, and during her many years’ residence here attracted a host of friends who will grieve her passing.

Deceased suffered a stroke a week ago Sunday which hastened an illness which already had taken possession of her body, and passed away quietly Sunday, 7:30 p.m.
