DIED: Peter A. House, whose illness was noted last week, never rallied from the stroke of paralysis which attacked him on Wednesday night, gradually growing weaker until death came to relieve him on Friday morning at one o’clock.
The news of Mr. House’s death was a great shock to the community in which he had been an honored citizen for many years. Mr. House was born in Herkimer County, New York, July 1, 1823, and was therefore nearly seventy-one hears of age. He came to this city in 1854, and has been in the wagon making and blacksmith business here ever since; his first shop being where the new bank building now stands, and his last one, where he worked the entire day prior to his illness, in the old Methodist church building on Main Street. For nearly forty years he had done business with Waupaca people, and not one man can be found who can say aught against reputation.
The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of Waupaca lodge, No. 123, F. and A.M., of which the deceased was an earnest member. Rev. RH Colby conducted the services at the house, and at the grave George Nordvi, W.M., read the beautiful service of the craft.
A sorrowing wife and one daughter, Mrs. Edith Stinchfield, are left to mourn his loss, a loss which will be felt by all who knew him.
