DEATH OF RICHARD LEA

 

            News came yesterday of the death of Richard Lea, which occurred Wednesday morning at Tacoma, Wash., where Mr. and Mrs. Lea had been visiting for some time.  Mr. Lea had been sick for about a week, and his death has been expected at any moment during the last few days.

            The remains will be brought home Sunday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Lea, Mrs. Waldemar Bronson and Charles Lea.  The funeral services will be held at the family home Sunday afternoon at three o’clock.

            An obituary will be given next week.

Funeral of Richard Lea

 

            The funeral services for the late Richard Lea were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the family residence.  The Rev. A.G. Harrison of Portage officiated, assisted by Rev. L.D. Hopkins of this city.

            The following formed a quartette, which sang twice during the services:  Prof. C.R. Showalter, A.F. Larson, Mrs. A.G. Harrison of Portage and Mrs. M.C. Russell of the Veterans’ Home.

            The attendance at the funeral was very large, a great many being obliged to remain out doors.  As a mark of respect, all the business houses of the city were closed from 1:30 to 3:30.

            The following served as pallbearers:  Hugo M. Lea, Alfred R. Lea, Chas. Hoffmann, John Lea, Chas. Lea and George Lea.  Interment was at Lakeside.
