January 26, 1905

Margerette House was born in Herkimer county, New York, July 24, 1813, and died Jan. 20, 1905, being ninety-one years, five months and twenty-six days old at the time of her death.  She was married to Stephen Looker, July 5, 1838.  Five children were born to them, three sons and two daughters, Hiram and Taylor of the town of Waupaca, Alden of the city of Waupaca; Mrs. Esther Rhodes and Mrs. Mary South, who, with her husband, have preceded her to the other shore.  She resided in the state of New York until 1866, when they moved to this state, living in the town of Lind one year, then moving to a farm in the town of Waupaca, where she has since resided most of the time.

She had a patient, cheerful, uncomplaining disposition, although she suffered so much, having broken both limbs and her wrist.  She was obliged to walk by the aid of crutches for over thirty-three years.  She was a conscientious Christina woman, always striving to do what was right, respected by all and loved by those who knew her best.  She leaves three sons, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends to mourn her demise.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 23, at the residence of H. Looker, Rev. W.J. Perry of Weyauwega officiating.  The interment was at Lakeside cemetery.
