Byron W. McAuly
was born in Starksboro,
Vermont, Nov. 19, 1835, and came to Waupaca county
in 1852 with his parents and settled in the town of Farmington. He enlisted in Co. H, 30th
Wisconsin Infantry, volunteers, and served with credit until mustered out in
1865. His death was caused from cancer of the throat and mouth, which he bore
with great patience and with a cheerful heart.
All was done that loving hands could do to relieve his suffering.
The
funeral was held form the chapel on Wednesday conducted by Chaplain Brown. The remains were laid at rest in the Home
cemetery.
He
leaves to mourn his departure, a daughter, Mrs. Clara Kontz
of Idaho Spring, Col.,
one sister, Mrs. Ida Conant, of Pittsville,
Wis., and one brother, Thomas McAuly, of Cambellsport,
Wis.
The relatives present at the funeral were Thomas McAuly,
Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Conant, Mr. and Mrs. Chester
Barber, of Hancock.
