Mrs. L. Nohr Passed Away Thursday At Home of Daughter

 

            Mrs. L. Nohr passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Indestand, Mill Street, this city, as 4:30 p.m. April 22, 1926, after an eighteen months’ illness due to Bright’s disease.

            Nicoline Christine Bendixen was born in Grested, Denmark, Oct. 23, 1857, and emigrated to America in 1880, coming direct to Waupaca where, in September, 1882 she was united in marriage to Lauritz Nohr.  Mr. and Mrs. Nohr moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where they made their home until 1894 when they returned with their family to Wisconsin, settling in Parfreyville, on the present homestead.

            Eight children were born of this union:  Agnes, who died while serving as a nurse in the World War; Albert of Weyauwega, Wis.; Edward, of Pasadena, Calif.; Mamie (Mrs. Henry Indestad), this city; Harry, Mineral Point, Wis.; Lily (Mrs. LeRoy Funk), this city; Benjamin, Wisconsin Veterans’ Home.  One son died in infancy.

            There are left to mourn, the husband and six children, nine grandchildren, and two brothers, Wm. J. Bendixen of Green Bay, Wis., and Lawrence F. Bendixen of Washington, D.C.

            Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church of which deceased had been a member for many years.  Rev. K.M. Matthiesen performed the last sad rites, and interment was made in Lakeside cemetery.

            The many beautiful floral tributes spoke for the kind thoughts and esteem of her friends and neighbors.

            Those from out of town who attended the funeral were:  Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Nohr of Mineral Point; W.J. Bendixen, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hoppensperger and Mr. and Mrs. Heinz, Appleton, and Mr. and Mrs. George Nohr of Almond.

            The pall bearers were:  N.L. Baker, Wm. Barlow, Oscar Smith, Wm. Hebard, Clair Holman and Charles Huntoon.
