            Jens Peter Peterson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Christina Bendixen of Catawba on Friday, June 28, at the age of 83 years.

            He was born in Denmark in 1824 and came to America in 1866.  About thirty years ago he moved to this section where he has resided continuously up to the time of his illness.

            He was an honorary member of the D.DH. Society of this city and the remains were brought to this city on the early morning train on Sunday and taken at once to the Danes Home from which place a short funeral service was held followed by the service at Our Savior’s Church, Rev. Andreasen officiating.  The members of the society attended in a body.

            The aged father of Mrs. Wm. Bendixen and step-father of Mrs. Fred Smith died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bendixen in Catawaba, Friday June 28, 1907, at the ripe age of 83 years, two months and fourteen days.

            Deceased was born in Denmark April 14, 1824.  In 1845 he was married; his wife being Ane Margrette Mathiesen.  In 186(?5) they emigrated to American, settling in Weyauwega, where his wife died in August of the same year. To them were born three children, two of whom died in infancy; the third, Mary, the wife of William Bendixen of Catawaba, survives him.  In 1870 he married Mrs. Stine Hansen and settled on a farm about three miles east of this city, where he lived until 1894 when he became too feeble to work on the farm and moved into this city where he lived some four years with his daughter, Mrs. Bendixen, then he went out to the Lakes and lived with his step-daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith, with whom he has continued to reside since, until last January he went to Catawba to visit his daughter, Mrs. Bendixen and family.  His extreme age and feeble health caused him to rapidly decline lately and death came to him as a silent sleep last Friday.  This remains were brought to this city Sunday morning and at two o’clock at Our Saviors church funeral services were held by Rev. Andreason.

            The Danes’ Home Society, of which he had been an honored member for thirty years turned out in a body and marched to Lakeside cemetery where the body was laid at rest beside his second wife who died in 1901.

            Members of the Bendixen family from away who were present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bendixen, and daughters, Hattie and Emma, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bendixen and two children, Catawaba; Mr. and Mrs. J. Hopiensberger of Appleton and two children, Mrs. N.E. Knoblock of Duluth; and brother Albert Peterson of Superior.

            The Bendixen family remained over and held a reunion Monday.  All returned Tuesday except Mr. Bendixen and Emma and Oscar and family who remained over to take in the Fourth at Waupaca and visit friends.
